EW systems against UAVs

An EW (electronic warfare) system suppresses a drone's radio channels — control, video, data transmission and satellite navigation — by creating directional interference. VANGUARD systems operate in the 300–6000 MHz range (depending on the model), come as stationary, mobile or camouflaged systems and support auto-start from the KOZHAN detector. Below is a comparison of four systems to help you choose for your task.

How to choose an EW system

What the price of an EW system depends on

The “from” price is for the base configuration. The final cost is determined by three parameters that are selected for the task and the threat in your area, so the same model can cost differently.

Number of bands

Each band is a separate jamming module with its own amplifier, filters and antenna, so the cost grows with every channel (HYDRA 2U has from 8 to 20). Bands are chosen to match the real control, video and navigation frequencies of drones in the area: an extra one is an overpayment, and a missed one leaves the drone a working channel.

Transmitter power

The module's output power (25–100 W) determines the suppression radius and the ability to overpower a strong drone control signal. A more powerful module means costlier amplifiers, active cooling and higher consumption: every 50 W of jamming draws about 100 W from the power source.

Power-system completeness

The full kit includes a 200 Ah LiFePO4 battery, a 12–24 V vehicle charging unit, a mains charger and cables. Battery capacity determines how long the EW system runs autonomously at the position without a generator; if power is already available on the vehicle, the kit can be trimmed to reduce the system's cost.

A KOZHAN detector and an EW system work best as a pair: the detector spots a UAV by its radio signal and warns the operator in advance, and a compatible EW system switches on automatically on the detected target. See also the full EW catalog and the FAQ.
